Considering Death Knights are fairly good at opposing magical threats and Malygos is much less level headed, I imagine Malygos is a lot more likely to die in a direct fight with Arthas than Alexstrasza.. Death Knights are the designated "Spellblade/Magic Knight" archetype class. A bit less so in the modern game (outside of Frost which is almost more spell than blade sometimes) but still.. Subtlety Rogues are pretty spellblade-like though.
